Birds Without Wings/Rhythm of Life.
These silkscreen prints are inspired by the Syrian people who on a daily basis live with a horrific, never-ending civil war and with a regime unsympathetic to the plight of its citizens. Although I bear witness from afar, I am reflecting upon the will of the people to find joy in life despite unbearable circumstances. Their wings may have been clipped, but the Syrian people lift one another up on a daily basis—finding happiness in family and community. Birds Without Wings/Rhythm of Life is also a homage to the Palestinian people. I have always respected them for their ability to survive and maintain dignity even when there is none.
